C1924 Edwardian.
During the Victorian Era from 1830 - early 1900's celery was a rare and expensive vegetable that families regarded as a luxurious treat. Cooks cleaned and scraped the stalks, then put them in cold water in tall glass vases. Celery was thus considered a delicacy and was purchased to impress dinner guests. Today celery vases make beautiful flower vases. This particular celery vase has a Sterling Silver collar and the word celery sandblasted on the front of the vase.
